David Soares (b. 1976 in Lisbon) is the author of four novels „Battle” (2011), „The Gospel of the Hanged Man” (2010), „Lisbon Triumphant” (2008) and „The Conspiracy of the Ancestors” (2007). Literary periodical „Os Meus Livros” („My Books”) acknowledged him as „the best Portuguese fantastic fiction writer”. He has published four collections of short stories („The Miserable Light” – 2010, „The Bones of the Rainbow” – 2006, „The Dark Fantastic” – 2005 and „Show Me Your Spine” – 2001), seven comic books („Little Blind God” and „Only at Night I Ask the Questions” – 2011 et al.) and the essay collection „On Comics” (2004). His works have been translated to Polish, French and Spanish; he was twice awarded as the best Portuguese comic screenwriter. Soares participated in the scholarship programme for writers organized by Instituto Português do Livro e das Bibliotecas and the Portuguese Ministry of Culture.
